International Women's Day on March 8th is a day celebrated worldwide to honor the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women and to remember their struggles for women's rights and equality.

There are several reasons and events related to the establishment of March 8th as International Women's Day:

Women's Labor Rights Movement: March 8th originated from the protests and strikes organized by women textile workers in New York City in 1857 to improve their working conditions and rights. Women workers demanded better working conditions, humane working hours, and fair wages.

1910 International Socialist Women's Conference: In 1910, during a conference held in Copenhagen, the proposal by German socialist Clara Zetkin to celebrate March 8th as "International Women's Day" was accepted. This date was designated as an international day to advocate for women's rights and equality.

Women's Day in Soviet Russia: In 1917, during the Russian Revolution, the large demonstrations organized by Russian women on March 8th played a significant role in ending the Tsarist regime. In Soviet Russia, March 8th was declared an official holiday and celebrated as a day for women's rights.

United Nations and International Women's Day: In 1975, the United Nations officially recognized March 8th as "International Women's Day" and designated it as a day for raising awareness and taking action on women's rights and equality issues internationally.

Today, International Women's Day on March 8th is celebrated worldwide with various events and campaigns to raise awareness about women's rights, gender equality, and the societal roles of women. It is also seen as an opportunity to celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women and to empower women in their societal roles.
