One of the most important settlements in Kuşadası's history is Neopolis, founded in the 3rd century BC in the region of Caria. This settlement later fell under the dominion of the Persians, Romans, and Byzantines.

Especially during the Roman period, Kuşadası became an important port city. Due to its strategic location as a crossroads of Roman wealth and trade routes, the city flourished economically and culturally. The name of the city was changed from "Neopolis" to "Scala Nova" during the Roman period, which means "New Port."

In the Middle Ages, the region came under the rule of the Byzantine Empire. The city's name was changed to "Scala Nuova" during this period, and it remained an important port city. However, the region began to lose its importance during the Byzantine period.

After the Ottoman Empire conquered the region in the 15th century, the port of Kuşadası was revitalized and became an important trading center during the Ottoman period, contributing to the revival of coastal trade.

Following the establishment of the Republic of Turkey, the tourism potential of Kuşadası began to be explored. In the 1960s, the tourism sector started to develop, and Kuşadası emerged as a significant tourist destination. Especially since the 1980s, the city has experienced rapid growth and attracted international tourists.

Today, Kuşadası is recognized as one of Turkey's major tourist centers. Its historical texture combined with beautiful beaches, historical sites, and vibrant nightlife attract tourists.

One of the must-visit places is Pigeon Island. In ancient times, boats were used to access the island, but a wonderful walking path was later built, and the traces of the castle have been preserved to this day.
